Germany’s BASF appoints new chairman of BOD & CFO

The supervisory board of BASF SE has extended the appointment of Martin Brudermüller as BASF’s chairman of the board of executive directors until the end of the 2024 annual shareholders’ meeting. The board has also appointed Dirk Elvermann as the new chief financial officer and chief digital officer. BASF SE is a German multinational chemical company.

Brudermüller’s appointment was originally scheduled to end in 2023. Brudermüller has been chairman of the board of executive directors of BASF SE since 2018 and a board member since 2006. Elvermann succeeds Hans-Ulrich Engel, whose mandate ends at the closing of the 2023 annual shareholders’ meeting. Engel has been a member of the board of executive directors since 2008, chief financial officer of BASF SE since 2011 and also, since 2018, vice chairman of the board of executive directors. Elvermann has been with the company since 2003 and has been leading the corporate finance division since 2019. Previously he was, among other positions, chief financial officer of Wintershall Holding and managing director of BASF in Poland, the company said in a press release.

“I am pleased that Brudermüller will continue to lead the company with prudence and determination in these difficult times. I am convinced that Elvermann with his broad experience and leadership skills will be an excellent addition to BASF’s board of executive directors,” Kurt Bock, chairman of the supervisory board of BASF SE, said.
