Prosperity Index of China Cotton Textile Industry up in May

The prosperity index of China’s cotton textile industry came in at 48.64 in May, up 1.79 from April, which is below the boom-bust line.

 

In May, the raw material purchasing index came in at 51.39, up 2.62 over April; the raw material inventory index came in at 48.46, up 0.45 month-on-month; the production index was 49.47, increasing 2.33 from April; the product sales index came in at 48.11, up 1.95 from April; the product inventory index was 47.73, growing 0.61 from April and the business index came in at 47.82, up 2.08 from the previous month.

 

The prosperity index of China’s cotton textile industry is based on the weighed calculation of numerous main indicators of about 200 backbone cotton textile enterprises. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below reflects contraction.
